Toronto Vacation

A Romantic Getaway for Two

Romantic Toronto vacation is on many couples Canada holidays list whether they are canadian or not. Toronto, along the north eastern shore of Lake Ontario, is one of the great modern cities of the world. Toronto has an amazing feel to it. The international community, art and music are all alive and part of this major metropolitan city. It is someplace where you can meet the world without hesitation and sample diverse cultures without feeling out of place. I still call it home and travel to Canada every year.

Travel Tip: If you are planning on visiting a few attractions than the Go Toronto Card is your ticket to the best things to do in Toronto and Niagara Falls. Its NEW and covers admission to the CN Tower, Casa Loma, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Skylon Tower above the Falls, and FREE admission to 20 museums, sights, and tours for one low price.

This urban center is home to over two million people who collectively represent cultures that span the globe. A Toronto vacation is a destination that anyone with the opportunity should have on their “must do” list for life. And here are my favorite venues and recommendations for your romantic Toronto vacation.

The Theatre District

With a rich history of culture and art, Toronto’s Theatre district features long running full stage productions, small independent shows and everything in between. There are also multiple live venues for music, comedy and nightclubs to suit anyone’s desire to get out and leave their stress behind.

Romantic Dining on Your Toronto Vacation

Dining in Toronto can run all the way from fast food to fine dining. The diversity and quality is astounding. There are five star restaurants such as Scaramouche. Its located at 1 Benvenuto Place and is one of the finest French restaurants in the world. A unique spot for dining is the historic Distillery District.

Taking a walk through Chinatown, you can discover restaurants that will make you forever change what you think of as Chinese food. And please do visit Saint Laurent Market while you are on your Toronto vacation.

For sightseeing, an absolute must is the waterfront. The CN Tower is a noticeable landmark and from it’s top you can see all the way to Niagara Falls, over 80 miles away.

We have also spent some very romantic moments dining in the CN tower revolving restaurant. A Must Do: Go before sunset and stay to see the city by night.

All the revolving really offers many many many picture taking opportunities. We still have hundreds of photos and we can't decide which ones to delete and which ones to put in our albums.

More things to do on your Toronto vacation: The Waterfront

You might also want to hop a ferry over to Toronto Island Park, which is perfect for a quiet picnic or some biking. If you happen to be in the city on Sunday, head over to the Kensingston Market for fresh cheese and local wine.

Have a breakfast burrito and definitely head for amazing an coffee to Ideal. It a very bohemian area so if chic and fancy is more your style head to Yorkville for a sushi lunch or visit a french bistro.

The markets and small stores around the tower are also worth visiting. Head along the lake and then turn up Bay Street to into the downtown area. There are shopping opportunities there that will have you engaged for hours. Watch for fabric stores in particular, featuring silks in colors and patterns that seem like works of art. Stop by the Toronto City Hall on your Toronto vacation for a unique photo opportunity. This landmark has been a featured backdrop in several major motion pictures and should not be missed.

Even though Toronto is a full-fledge city, there’s still romance to be found here. How about walking on the grounds of Casa Loma Castle together – they say it may be haunted, but the gardens are certainly alive and well-tended.

Getting to Your Toronto Vacation

As Toronto Pearson International Airport is a major hub for arrivals from around the world, getting to tour Toronto vacation is a fairly simple process.

Driving to your Toronto vacation from the US is equally simple. Coming from the east coast you can head through Buffalo and cross the border either at Buffalo or to the north in Niagara Falls. There are also crossing points for people in the northeastern states that bring you around the lake to approach the city from along the other side. Travel from the west coast by car can be done but air travel is often less expensive than the fuel you’ll use driving.

Once in Toronto, there is as much to do and see as any major city, but one thing that strikes many people is how clean and accessible the city is. Canadians take great pride in our home and every effort is made to keep it maintained. Equally important is having guests feel welcome. There are services available to make sure that no matter where you hale from, you have maps and guidebooks available in your native language.

This is one destination that must be sampled at least once in a lifetime. You’ll be back and you’ll also be welcome.
