As you might expect from a popular destination, there’s a lot of variety from which to choose in Key West. One hint – watch where the locals eat. Very often, that’s where you find the best food that really reflects the region. One spot in particular is Blue Heaven on Thomas Street. This is close to where Hemmingway refereed boxing matches. The breads here can’t be beat. First thing in the morning of your romantic vacations in Florida come here for a big cup of coffee, banana bread and watch their free range chickens prowl around. By the way, the prices here are very reasonable.


If you ask about Cuban food everyone points to El Siboney. When you’re hankering for a pork sandwich or old fashioned beans and rice, El Siboney serves it up with a flair. You cannot beat the price for the portions and the flavors!

Third in our list of eateries is the Prime Steakhouse on Caroline Street. This is considered the best steakhouse in Key West and its got a great romantic Key West honeymoon ambiance. But if steak isn’t your thing, don’t worry – there are numerous other offerings on the menu. Try the macaroni and cheese or veal chops!

If you want to eat while watching the ocean give Louie’s Backyard (Waddell Avenue) a try. Here you’ll get some fantastic Caribbean-flavored seafood and steak. Finally end your day at the Grand Café on Duval Street – it’s the perfect spot to unwind and catch your breath.
