We went on our Cuba holidays for our first year wedding anniversary and stayed in a romantic couples resort on a beautiful island beach.

We traveled around the Caribbean’s largest island and visited many romantic destinations: secluded beaches, colonial towns and romantic restaurants. Here is our report on our romantic Cuba vacation.

Our Cuba holidays was a very memorable retreat and it was one of our most unique travel destinations — there is simply no place in the world like Havana or Cuba.

Cuba holidays: Top 10 romantic things to do and see

  1. Take a stroll along the Malecón, the sea wall that links Old Havana to Vedado, and is popular with romantic couples.

  2. Explore the Bellamar Caves - Ornate crystal sculptures, underground rivers and ponds, and indigenous pictographs.

  3. Visit Santiago de Cuba - at the foot of the Sierra Maestra Mountains and overlooking a magnificent bay.

  5. Visit Trinidad ( World Heritage site since 1988) A 500-year-old city will find Spanish colonial architecture, underscoring a colonial ambiance that marks the tiny city one of the country’s greatest attractions. Only a few square blocks in size, historic Trinidad is famous for its lovely, cobblestone streets, pastel coloured houses with elaborate wrought-iron grills, as well as majestic palaces and plazas.

  6. Go scuba diving or snorkeling - expect to see brightly coloured fish, coral reefs and ancient shipwrecks. The sea here is at an average temperature of over 24 degrees all year round, with mild tides and no strong currents - One of the world's biggest coral reefs is offshore at Cayo Coco, and there are more reefs around Isla de la Juventud.

  7. Catch a Live Cuban Music Performance at Casa de la Musica in Trinidad.

  8. Horseback riding through the scenic sugarcane fields around Trinidad, or the hills and valleys of Pinar del Río.

  9. Stroll around Old Havana - colonial buildings, elegant plazas, sweeping boulevards and narrow, atmospheric streets bristling with life.

  10. Drink a mojito at Hemmingways' old haunt, the Bodeguita del Medio in Havana, one of Cuba‘s most celebrated restaurants.

  11. Take salsa lessons from locals.

Soak up some sun at one of Cubas' many romanic beaches anywhere from Playas del Este near Havana to exclusive island resorts like Cayo Coco.

Cuba holidays: Romantic Restaurants in Havana

Ignore government run establishments in favor of Paladares - small, family-run, private home restaurant – reservations required.. Paladares are limited to 12 seats only (although they usually have more than that) and are known for the simplicity and authenticity of their food and for having very good prices compared to the good quality of the food.

Paladar La Cocina de Lilliam was our favorite romantic restaurant - it is set in a beautiful, romantic garden. Serves some of the best food you can find in the city.
