Biking Flat terrain and deserted back roads make ideal conditions for bike enthusiasts. Traffic is too heavy in the tourist areas and on the main road along the western coast, and wind can be a deterrent for some. However, the paved roads and smoother dirt paths along the northern coast are scenic and enjoyable when the wind is calm.
Aruba vacation: Hiking - Arikok National Park has already laid 20 miles of trails and more are planned. Some of the rock-bordered dirt paths lead to formal presentations and learning centers; others branch out to the isolate undeveloped areas along the park’s north and south boundaries.
Aruba vacation: Top 10 things to do and see
Oranjestad - the capital city, located on the southern coast near the western end of the island, is extremely picturesque with its Dutch colonial architecture in pastel colors. Along the wharf, merchants come to sell fresh fish and produce right off the boats every morning. The downtown area with shopping malls surrounding it is the primary shopping area on the island.
Boca Prins white sand dunes
Natural Pool (Conchi) – On the northern side of the island and only accessible via ATV or Trail Rated 4x4. This is a small pool of water hidden in natural rock formation that jut into the ocean, just off the shore of Aruba - great day trip.
California Lighthouse – On the northernmost tip of the island. One of Aruba's most famous landmarks, the California lighthouse is known for its spectacular views of the island. You can't enter the lighthouse, but the area around it and to the north features a lot of hiking trails. The terrain is interesting-- arid, full of cacti and lizards. The Atlantic surf carves out caves where it hits the rocks on the North side of Aruba.
Butterfly Farm – a 3000-square-foot mesh-enclosed garden with waterfalls and stocked fish ponds. Hundreds of majestic butterflies from all over the world flutter freely to new-age music and land weightlessly on visitors. The farm is open daily, 9am-4pm, with the last tour at 3:30pm. Located on Irausquin Blvd, across from the Divi Phoenix Hotel.
Natural Bridge at Boca Andicuri – is one of Aruba's most popular attractions, and the area is likely to be filled with tour buses any given time of day. And you can see why.
The bridge is a formation of coral limestone cut out by years of pounding surf, and is one of the largest of these types of spans in the world.
It stands some 23 feet (7 meters) above sea level and spans more than 100 feet (30 meters). There is no admission fee or set hours for visiting.
Boca Catalina and the Antilla Shipwreck – These are 2 of the many sites snorkel tours will take you. The Antillla Shipwreck is the remains of a scuttled 400-foot German cargo ship that was anchored off of Aruba during WW2. The remains are off of Malmok beach.
The Palm Island – a private island off the coast of Aruba, owned by DePalm Tours of Aruba, offers a calm, relaxing afternoon after a day of sightseeing around the island.
Arikok National Park – Aruba’s ecological treasure. Among the desert vegetation in the park, are divi-divi trees, rare exotic cacti, aloe plants, and colorful tropical flowers. The park is open daily from 8am to 4pm.
Casibari Rock & Ayo Rock Formations – climb and explore the tops which provide a great view of the countryside.
Hooiberg (Haystack Mountain) – Standing over 500 feet, the haystack is in the center of the country and provides a breathtaking view of Aruba. Go on a cool and clear day because it will be easier to climb the 1000+ steps required to reach the top and you can see the coast of Venezuela to the South.
Aruba vacation: More popular attractions:
• Our Lady of Alto Visto Chapel – On the northern side of the island. The chapel is very picturesque and historic.
• Yamanota 617ft / 188m – This is the highest elevation of Aruba and is located in the vicinity of the Balashi Gold Mill Ruins and Mira Lamar gold mine complex.
• Bubali Bird Sanctuary – The area has become a resting and breeding area for more than 80 species of migratory birds.
• Quadirkiri Caves – famous for its two chambers, illuminated by the sunlight streaming through holes in the roof of the cave and renowned in folklore as the site where two lovers burst through rock and into heaven. Though they try to sell the caves as one of many romantic tourist attractions in Aruba, don't be fooled. Nothing is less romantic than having cockroaches scuttling across your feet every time you hold still.
• Fontein cave – distinguishes itself from the other caves like Quadirikiri, Baranca Sunu (Tunnel of Love) and Huliba, because this is the only cave where indian drawings can be found.
• Baranca Sunu – alias Tunnel of Love due to its heart shape at the entrance.
• Aruba Aloe Factory – You can take a short tour and learn some interesting facts about aloe farming, production and uses.
• Bushiribban Gold Mill / Smelting Station – The ruins of the smelting station are the way to the Natural Bridge. Climbing the ruins you can get great photos of the coastline.
• Lourdes Grotto – This grotto carefully created in the natural limestone cave is a shrine to many pilgrims and is located at Sero Preto, San Nicolaas.

The Flying Fishbone (romantic sunset) - located in south Oranjestad and the beer brewery, but north of San Nicholas on the beach. This restaurant has excellent food and ambiance. Aruba vacation: When to go to this secluded romantic island destination
Any time of year is a great time to go on an Aruba vacation. Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao, the so called ABC Islands, are outside the hurricane belt and enjoy year round great weather.
Aruba offers constantly warm weather. Summer never ends here. The temperature difference between June and December or midnight and noon is rarely more than four degrees either side of 82F. A dependable cooling trade wind blows from the east, and fewer than 22 inches of rain fall anywhere on the island during a year. Since the equator runs about 12 to south, the sun is strong, especially between 11 am and 3 pm, and visitors enjoy morning sunrises and evening sunsets at roughly the same times each day, regardless of the seasons.
The Aruba vacation climate is tropical marine, with little seasonal temperature variation. Because of its location south in the Caribbean there is a very strong sun, but a constant light breeze keeps the temperature pleasant (from the 70’s to 90’s year round). The weather is almost always dry, with most rain showers coming at night and lasting only a little while.
